James married Mary VALLELY, daughter of Bernard VALLALY and Mary LAMB, on 10 October 1859 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Great Clyde Street, Glasgow, Scotland.¹ (Mary VALLELY was born about 1841.)

James Hodson, of 18 Saltmarket Street Glasgow, was a bachelor of 21 years. He was a clogmaker. He made his X mark.

Mary Vallely also made her X mark. She was 18 years old, unmarried and a millworker. Her address was given as 4 Low Green Street, Glasgow.

The wedding was a Roman Catholic one celebrated by John Gray RCC. The witnesses were Alexander Gilfillan and James Connolly.
