The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was James T. Browne and the witnesses were James McKelvie and Sarah Jane Brown.

Patrick Vallaly, who made his X mark, was an unmarried man of 22 years of age. He worked as a general labourer. He lived at 68 Hilltown Dundee. Both of his parents were deceased.

Mary Ann Ward, of the same address, also made her X mark. She too was unmarried and was aged 21 years. She worked as a jute spinner. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 2 October 1883 at Dundee, Thomas Meek being the signing registrar. ¹
