   Cause of his death was senile decay over 1 month.

  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Whittinghame East Lothian recorded William Webster aged 28 years living with his parents and sister at Muircockhall. He worked as a shepherd, like his father. He had been born in Spot, Haddingtonshire.

The 1891 census for Ruchlaw Hill Mains, Stenton, East Lothian, recorded William Webster aged 69 years, farmer, born Spott, Haddingtonshire; Ellon Black his niece unmarried and aged 34 years, housekeeper, born Innerwick, Haddingtonshire; Nellie Girdner, his grand niece, aged 14 years, born Leith, Edinburgh; and George Black, aged 75 years, his brother in law, a visitor and a widower, born Aberlady, Haddingtonshire.

William's death certificate of 1895 recorded him as a farmer and a single man. Both of his parents, Richard Webster and Helen Hay, were deceased. 1

  Medical Notes:

Ian S. Black LRCP certified he cause of death.

William's niece, Helen Black, who had been present where the death occurred, informed the registrar at Dunbar on 18 July 1895 of her uncle's death.
