QUIGLEY, George 1

  • Born: About 1887, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland
  • Died: 16 February 1901 at 4.30 pm, Kilbirnie Loch, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland

Cause of his death was asphyxia from drowning.

  General Notes:

George died at the age of 13 years. He drowned in Kilbirnie Loch, about half a mile south east of East Lochridge farm. His usual address at the time was Donnyholm, Kilbirnie.

The death was looked into by the Procurator Fiscal because of its suddenness. An entry in the Register of Corrected Entries, Volume 1 Number 169, issued by the Procurator Fiscal's office at Kilmarnock on 7 March 1901 confirmed that George died from drowning as had at first been thought.

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by Dr Milroy, surgeon, who saw the boy only after death.

George Quigley, the boy's father, notified the registrar, T. M. MacMillan, at Kilbirnie on 18 February 1901. He made his X mark.
