In the 1871 census for Springburn Glasgow Charles and his wife and children were recorded living at Petershill House.

Charles Gordon, nephew of the Margaret Stewart who had been present where her death occurred, gave notice of the death before the registrar at Springburn on 25 December 1871. ^{1 2 4}
