  General Notes:

The census of 1871 for the High Church or College parish of Glasgow recorded Sarah Vallely as wife and housekeeper of the head of a household living at 81 New Vennel. She was recorded as 28 years of age and was Irish born. Her five children ranged in age from 1 year to 14 years.

Daniel Valelly's widow, Sarah Valelly, gave notice of his death before the registrar, Peter Ferguson, on 4 April 1877 at Glasgow and made her X mark. 3 4


Sarah married Daniel VALLELY, son of Francis VALLELY and Jean ROSEBOROUGH, on 18 September 1865 in St Alphonsus RC Church, Glasgow, Scotland.1 2 (Daniel VALLELY was born about 1832 in County Armagh, Ireland 2 4 5 6 7 and died 3 April 1877 at 12 noon in 4 Turner Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow, Scotland 1 4 8.). The cause of his death was delirium tremens over 14 days.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant priest was Jeremiah I. Buckley and the witnesses were Alfred Ross and Margaret Deacon.

Daniel Vallely, who made his X mark, worked as a broker, a clothes dealer or hawker. He was recorded as 32 years old and was resident in Dumbarton. He was a widower. Both of his parents were deceased.

Sarah Deacon also made her X mark. She was 28 years old and of New Vennel Glasgow. She was unmarried and worked as a cotton store worker.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 18 September 1865, David Liddell registrar. 2
