George married Margaret McNAIRN, daughter of Robert McINAIRNEY and Susan MURPHY, on 24 October 1874 in St Patrick's RC Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Margaret McNAIRN was born about 1848 1 and died after 24 October 1874.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was Hubert Van Stipheut CC. The witnesses were Patrick O'Garra who made his X mark, and Anne O'Garra (or O'Garva?).

George McGill was a collier aged 26 years. He was unmarried and of Pender's Row, Baillieston. He made his X mark.

Margaret McAnairney was a pithead worker and unmarried. She was aged 25 years and her address was noted as Back Row, Rosehall. She too made her X mark. Both of Margaret's parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered on 27 October at Coatbridge, the signing registrar being James Mitchell.
