1. Military Service: Canadian Oversees Expeditionary Force, 10 April 1916, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. James Menzies stated that he was living at Nanaimo BC. He had been born in Airdrie Scotland on 20 January 1888 and his wife was Sophia Menzies. He worked as a miner. He had served 18 months in the Highland Cycle Corps, but did not belong to any Active Militia. He was willing to be vaccinated or inoculated.

James married Sophia REYNOLDS, daughter of Thomas REYNOLDS and Mary SMITH, on 27 October 1913 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. (Sophia REYNOLDS was born in 1895 in Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ^{1 2} and died on 27 January 1934 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.)
