  • Marriage (1): QUIGLEY, Margaret on 5 August 1848 in Broomknowe Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1
  • Died: 12 March 1865

  General Notes:

In the 1851 census Charles's age was recorded as 32 years. He worked as a miner. He was living with his wife Margaret at 74 Clark or Clerk St, Airdrie, Lanarkshire.

In the parish relief application made by his wife for desertion by him, Charles McInnes was recorded as a shoemaker. He had been born in Portree in the Isle of Skye. He was last seen by Margaret, she claimed, two years earlier in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire. A note added in tinier writing above this sentence added that Charles was "an oversman ironstone miner". He was the son of Donald McInnes, a crofter, and of Mary McLeod, both in Skye. 4

Charles married Margaret QUIGLEY, daughter of James QUIGLEY and Isabella McLEAN, on 5 August 1848 in Broomknowe Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Margaret QUIGLEY was born about 1826 in Ireland and died 24 December 1894 at 2.00 am in Barnhill Poorhouse, Springburn, Lanarkshire, Scotland 5.). The cause of her death was bronchitis/cardiac disease.
