   Cause of his death was cerebro-vascular accident/porphyria, coronary thrombosis, broncho-pneumonia.6

  General Notes:

When Agnes Falconer died in 1935 her death certificate recorded as as a woman of 20 years of age, married to George Gartshore Grocer's Assistant. George Gartshore, widower, of 31 Nicol Street Airdrie and who had been present where his wife's death occurred, gave notice of her death on 11 November 1935 at before the registrar Airdrie.

In 1937 George Gartshore was recorded as a coal salesman by occupation.

In 1939 George was recorded as a coal merchant.

In his son's birth certificate of 1946 George Gartshore was recorded as a haulage contractor. His address was 31 Nicol Street Airdrie. He was recorded similarly in 1957 and 1967.

George Gartshore, Margaret Ballantyne's son, was the informant of her death on 3 September 1971 at Airdrie.

When George Gartshore died in 1974 his death certificate recorded him as an industrial storeman by occupation,and aged 60 years. He had been married twice and his second wife survived him. His usual residence was 21 South Commonhead Road Airdrie. Both his parents were deceased. 2 8 9 10 11 12 13

George's son George Gartshore, of 18 Parnell Street, Airdrie, was the informant of his death at Airdrie on 16 December 1974. 6


George married Agnes Brown FALCONER, daughter of John FALCONER and Susan Innes Meek GARTSHORE, on 2 February 1934 in West Church Manse, Caldercruix, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Agnes Brown FALCONER was born on 1 July 1913 in Station Road, Plains, By Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 9 14 and died on 19 November 1935 in Burgh Hospital, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 9.). The cause of her death was pulmonary tuberculosis over 1 year.6


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Lauren C. MacDouggall, Minister of Religion, West Church Caldercruix, married the couple. M. Falconer, of 88 Mack Street Airdrie, and John Gartshore of 84 Flowerhill Street Airdrie, were witnesses.

George Gartshore was a single man aged 19 years living at 84 Flowerhill Street Airdrie. He worked as a "Grocer's Assistant".

Agnes Brown Falconer lived at 79 Mains Street Plains. She was 20 years old and a single woman. She worked as an "Omnibus Conductress".

The marriage was registered at Caldercruix on 4 February 1934. 1

George next married Jessie Greer GILCHRIST, daughter of Samuel GILCHRIST and Mary GREER, on 29 August 1936 in 225 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, Scotland.2 3 (Jessie Greer GILCHRIST was born about 1915 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

This couple were married By Declaration in presence of Alexander Gilchrist, 56 Broomfield Street, Airdrie, and Margaret Murray, English Buildings, Calderbank. The Warrant of the Sheriff Substitute of Lanarkshire was dated 29 August 1936.

George Gartshore was a widower aged 22 years who lived at 84 Flowerhill Street Airdrie. He was a Motor Lorry Driver.

Jessie Greer Gilchrist was a single woman aged 21 years living at 56 Broomfield Street Airdrie. No occupation was noted.

The marriage was registered on 31 August 1936 at Glasgow. 3
