  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Bothwell parish Lanarkshire recorded Ann Bartholomew and Mary Bartholomew, presumably her sister though Ann's age was noted as 13 years and Mary's as only 5 years, living as lodgers in Legbrannock, in the household of John Russell and Mary M. Russell his wife. Ann's place of birth was recorded as Coatbridge, as was Mary's.

Note: Mary M. Russell appears to be Mary McInally, from the baptism of their daughter Elizabeth at Girvan 1831, or she may be Mary Morton with whom a John Russell had a daughter Mary in 1837 baptised in Old Monkland parish that year.

The 1881 census recorded Annie Gartshore as born in Airdrie, but this is probably by analogy with all the other family members who were actually born in Airdrie. Other sources record her place of birth as Old Monkland parish. 3 11 13
