  General Notes:

Elizabeth was the eldest child in her family. Her father, Peter Quigley, notified the registrar of her birth on 18 July 1919. He made his X mark in the birth register. Her given middle name Cavaney was in memory of her grandmother Elizabeth Cavanagh.

Elizabeth, also known as Lizzie, was a widow aged 69 years at the time of her death. Her mother and father were both deceased too by then. She died in her own home.

  Medical Notes:

Doctor William Thom certified the cause of death, and Elizabeth's death was reported to the registrar by her daughter Helen Gilmour of 77 Gateside Road Wishaw, on 10 October 1988.


Elizabeth married James GIBSON, son of Thomas GIBSON and Helen BRESLIN, on 9 April 1940 in RC Chapel, Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (James GIBSON was born in 1917 and died before 9 October 1988.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was a Roman Catholic one. The priest was Father Bartholomew Atkinson. The witnesses were Thomas Gibson of 109 Hope Street Motherwell and Mary Quigley of 90 Muirhouse Avenue Motherwell.

The bridegroom, James Gibson, was 22 years old and described as a 'metal polisher and Private in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders'. His residence was given as 109 Hope Street Motherwell. His father was Thomas Gibson, a rigger, and his mother Helen Breslin.

The bride, Elizabeth 'Lizzie', was aged 21 years, and worked as a 'laundry packer'. She resided at 90 Muirhouse Avenue, Motherwell.
